He was the son of Walter Brind, ribbon maker and silk merchant of Paternoster Row, London. Brig.-General Frederick Brind was in the Bengal Horse Artillery. His Military Records record the following: Mortally wounded by a mutineer of the 9th Light Cavalry. Brevet Colonel, Bengal Horse Artillery. Indian Mutiny 1857-9 Bengal Horse Artillery. 2nd Brigade: Colonel Frederick Brind, CB. - wounded at Sealkote - 10th July 1857. died of wounds. Aged 56. Son of Walter Brind. Born in London. Served in the Gwalior, Sutlej and Punjab Campaigns. Husband of Henrietta Sale.

Frederick S.S.Brind was a Lieutenant in 1868 when he was listed in the lists of officers in the Hazara Campaign.He was promoted to Captain; on the 1 April 1870 he was on half pay. He served as a orderly officer to General Bright during the Hazara Campaign.Served in the Indian Mutiny and was mentioned in despatches.He later moved to the 17th Foot Regt. Frederick died at Windsor Hotel,Glen Fern,Gardens,Christchurch,Bournemouth aged 72 years.His brother in law E.P.Mainwaring of 11 Belvidere,Weymouth being the informant of his death.
